In Black and White Transition - Art & Poetry collaboration

by Alice Vedral Rivera and Wendie Busig-kohn

In Black and White TransitionIn Black and White Transition
While I wait for
Divine inspiration
To strike – I write down
Wind blown tumbleweed
Words that roll through the
Gates of my mind to
Escape hibernation

Divorce / A New Day Begins

by Diane Morinich and Wendie Busig-Kohn

A New Day BeginsDivorce
Mercy, mercy, mercy me
Is that my old husband I see
On the arm of a blonde, skinny as can be

He said he loved Brenda Vaccaro,
With dark hair, black eyes and oh,
She wasn't really skinny, no

I tried my best to follow his wishes
I drove stick shift and cooked Russian dishes
Went swimming on that beach with jelly fishes

I did it all for him, but not with my heart
That's really what made it all fall apart
Holding on to someone you don't love is an art

So I say to my old husband, "good for you"
Hold onto your blonde and never be blue
I try to live my life and be contented too

Wherein / Nurturing

by Rose Marie Raccioppi and Wendie Busig-Kohn

Wherein comes this lightness of heart?
Wherein does boundless Faith have its start?
Wherein does life redefine its story?
Wherein lies the new found glory?
Be it in health and life lived anew,
Be it the blessings bestowed upon you,
Be it the breath, its ebb and flow sublime,
Be it the Grace within, the known Divine.

Poetry: "Wherein" by Rose Marie Raccioppi (Poet Laureate, Orangetown, New York).

Lakota Prayer

Digital BisonLakota Prayer
Wakan Tanka, Great Mystery,
teach me how to trust
my heart,
my mind,
my intuition,
my inner knowing,
the senses of my body,
the blessings of my spirit.
Teach me to trust these things
so that I may enter my Sacred Space
and love beyond my fear,
and thus Walk in Balance
with the passing of each glorious Sun.

According to the Native People, the Sacred Space is the space between exhalation and inhalation. To Walk in Balance is to have Heaven (spirituality) and Earth (physicality) in Harmony.

Rebel Wolf

Their eyes

whether wolves or superstars,

searing images leap from the page

into our hearts

An artist, a Poet, a Leader without peer

Rebel Wolf leads the pack

a friend so very dear.

She is witty, courageous, and trusting

above all

she is there when you need her

always responding to your call

to help

to champion

her artist peers

a woman so vital and loving, so dear.

I remember so well

the early days of our creative jam

when "going around the mountain" was a slogan we canned

for UK vs US communication faux pas'

All that time, I was truly and always in awe.

Friends come into our lives for a reason,

many leave without one too,

but I cannot even begin to imagine,

my life without you!

In hospital now, I can feel your fear

I want to be there

to comfort you Tracie dear

My eyes are welled with tears of concern

I simply cannot wait for the day you will return

to all of us who know and love you much

We miss you, we love you,

Thanks for that special touch

you have imparted to each of us

along the way

Tracie, this is the best way I know how to pray

You live in my heart...every single passing day.
