My First Radio Interview About My Art

Some Ways We PlaySo you want exposure and you put yourself out there and then someone bites a radio interview (WHAT ) This is crazy I’m a self taught artist how can I do a radio interview . So I say to myself “This is so very weird" Here I am an artist that just has been doing art shows for a year what ever am I going to talk about. So I schedule a time and the nice lady sets it up right after my art show.

The time has come I get to the radio studio my heart is racing my nerves are frazzled and we sit down and she starts taping and I forget mostly every thing that I wanted to talk about.... But of course these people are professionals and she steers me through the whole interview and plugs all of my upcoming events and shows. It is not the best interview I have ever done but I could listen to it without cringing. I will post a link down below.

Tips that I have learned:

  1. Look the host straight in the eye and this will keep you from looking at all the radio equipment
  2. You have to just be yourself
  3. You can never fake a good interview
  4. Try to have fun just a good conversation

In closing I hope that this helps you out - Artist Brandon Scott on Culture Coast with Dona Lee
