Divorce / A New Day Begins
by Diane Morinich and Wendie Busig-Kohn
Divorce
Mercy, mercy, mercy me
Is that my old husband I see
On the arm of a blonde, skinny as can be
He said he loved Brenda Vaccaro,
With dark hair, black eyes and oh,
She wasn't really skinny, no
I tried my best to follow his wishes
I drove stick shift and cooked Russian dishes
Went swimming on that beach with jelly fishes
I did it all for him, but not with my heart
That's really what made it all fall apart
Holding on to someone you don't love is an art
So I say to my old husband, "good for you"
Hold onto your blonde and never be blue
I try to live my life and be contented too
