Mums automatically get bragging rights!

by Tracie Koziura

Birthday BouquetOK - this is a little 'self-indulgent' but I wanted to share a very special message I received from my boy, Jamie, yesterday for my birthday. It's the first 'MOON PIG' card I have ever had - I actually had to sign for it! I had already received the most FABULOUS bouquet of roses and lilies (see photo!) from Jamie so it never crossed my mind that this 'special delivery' might be from him, too. Of course, as soon as I saw the front of the card, I knew it was from him - it said:

It's not the years in your life that count,
it's the life in your years...
Happy Birthday Mumski Wumski!! ;)

I guess I should explain - we tend to add 'ski' on the end of most words when sharing things - especially close, personal things...Koziura is a Polish name and Jamie is quarter Polish (on his fathers side) and we are both extremely proud of his ancestry!

Anyway, when I read the rest of his card, I was left in tears. My boy is 27 tomorrow (25th June) and every year, on my birthday, he writes me something special and every year it is different yet filled with so much love. This year I would really like to share his message to me with you...as I say, a tad self-indulgent, but he is so special to me and I don't often get the chance to 'show him off!'

Mum

As each year passes, so follows another chapter of our lives. As I sit here now, writing to you, I'm taking it all in as a very special moment of my own time to say the things I want to say and I know you will be reading this filling that empty space with your own time, too.

I want you to take this next year, this next chapter, and fill yourself with joy and know that you have done so well and earned the right to do so. This is now your time. This is now your year. Don't second guess an idea, don't doubt a feeling. Grab the reins and let your heart lead the way.

I love you so much! I am so proud of you. You have blown me away over the last few years, more than anyone else. The work, the effort, the tears along the way have led you to heights of great talent and achievement. You are the ingredients of happiness and balance not ony in your life but in the lives of those around you and for that you are truly admirable.

Happy Birthday Mum
with all my love as always
Your boy
xxxxxxx

Please excuse me while I go find the tissues again...
