Zentangle

by Regina Sabiston

ZentangleThis is a beautiful Zentangle made by my friend Janice Schlosser. She is an artist who has a studio and a gallery in her hometown. Within this work of art you will find some images you may recognize and many others you will not. The repetitive patterns are everywhere and I especially love how she used a marker that made triple equadistant lines all at the same time. I love the depth she has achieved in this Zentangle. Janice also creates lovely paintings which I promise to share in another blog.

The true beauty of a Zentangle is that you cannot fail. because it does not need to look like anything else and has no up or down.

A Zentangle by definition is easy to learn and made by creating images from repetitive patterns. It is considered to be fun and relaxing and is supposed to provide you with artistic satisfaction as well as give you a sense of personal well being. Zentangles can be made by people of all ages and all skill levels. They are also used in many fields of interest. When you start a Zentangle you have no idea what the result will be. This is usually unusual for an artist, but can be very exciting at the same time. You can create designs or manipulate symbols. You can create one anywhere, alone or in groups. It is however, recommended that you use the best paper, pens available so that your Zentangle will be respected, treasured, collected and appreciated for a long time. After all, it is a work of art. Try making one...you'll be surprised how much fun it is!
