I have always had a fascination with dolphins. I love to swim and I have always wondered how they catapult out of the water and then so gracefully dive back in. My daughter and I like to pretend we're dolphins in the water, doing the dolphin dive.

I am also interested in their intelligence. They are said to be very smart and communicate amongst with each other by the sounds they make under water. The stories that people tell of how they were saved by dolphins intrigues me and I want to honor them with this piece of artwork I've created.

It was fun to make and can be as challenging a design as you want it to be.

Here I've use a simple, tiny box of balsa wood and transformed it into something glitzy. I love things that sparkle and was immediately drawn to the rhinestones I've seen everywhere in craft stores. There are all sorts of them, but these happen to be the ones that are like stickers that I purchased at Michael's. When I see all the various colors I get inspired and imagine all kinds of things I can do with them. They're great for children too. Just give them some and see what they come up with. They are eager little budding artists that are just waiting to get their hands into something creative to do. I also used metallic paint to add shine. I've used metallic paints for many other purposes as well. They work great when you're painting old, restored vehicles (literally), but I should clarify...when I am painting paintings of old restored vehicles. It's thrilling to view things that sparkle and shine from different angles, just like these little bejeweled boxes.

I hope I've given you something to think about and something to inspire you to create. Just like putting the pieces together to create an exciting life, we can put bits of color, jewels, papers, tiles etc. together to create an endless amount of enjoyment and when you're done along with the enjoyment comes a sense of accomplishment.
