A Rising Star ~ Robbie Graham

I love the paintings by Robbie Graham and in my opinion he is a rising star. As a wildlife artist on a mission, Robbie demonstrates just how realistically he can capture wild animals. He is a self-taught artist who paints with gouache on board. Before he begins, he visualizes what he is about to paint which is very common amongst artists. He uses Daler Rowney gouache as a medium because it requires no layering, is easy to correct due to its opaque quality, has great "blendabillity", and offers a large variety of intense colors.

Robbie Graham has always enjoyed photographing and observing wildlife at the zoo, as a resident of Kent, "The Garden of England". These creatures have always inspired him. In his paintings he tries to capture their spirit and their soul, often focusing on their eyes as is evident by the many paintings on his website. A perfectionist by nature, Robbie pays attention to every detail to express his passion for wildlife. He states, "My art is not about the skill of application, but the ability to show the viewer the beauty and fragility of the wildlife around us." Well Robbie, I'm here to tell you and those who read my blog, that you are most definitely a very skilled painter doing your part to make this world a better place and isn't that what art is all about?

Robbie Graham has recently been featured in "Wildscape," and is a permanent featured artist by Daler Rowney. Today is the last day of his solo exhibition with Red Bubble, but I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot more of Robbie Graham's paintings because, in my opinion, he is a Rising Star and an ambassador of natures endangered species.
