Juniper Berries cross stitch chart

Juniperby Tracie Koziura

Junipers vary in size and shape from tall trees to low spreading shrubs with long trailing branches. They are evergreen with needle-like and/or scale-like leaves.

Juniper Berries are a spice used in a wide variety of culinary dishes and best known for the primary flavoring in gin. They are also used as the primary flavour in the liquor 'Jenever' and sahti-style of beers.

Juniper Berry sauce is often a popular flavoring choice for quail, pheasant, veal, rabbit, venison and other meat dishes.

I created this as part of a series of four berry designs - the other three were Holly, Rowan and Mistletoe.

The downloadable ZIP file for this cross stitch chart contains a full black and white symbol chart, key and thread requirements along with a conversion chart from Anchor to DMC threads.

My thoughts on a senseless death

100_3310adjby Alice Vedral Rivera

This came to me on Thursday morning as I was deciding which of my poems would be appropriate to read at Jitka Vesel's Benefit Concert. I started with the following thoughts:

Jitka’s senseless death is a tragedy full of pain and loss for us that are left behind.

I have often struggled with the question, “Why would God let this happen?” (As I am sure most of us have.) At times I have thought that maybe it was predestination. But it was not God nor predestination that caused this, but the free will of one young man who was (for whatever reasons) predisposed to carry out such a violent act.

With our free will, we have the potential to choose which actions we will take. Every choice has consequences. Each action has a re-action. Different choices create different consequences and the potential variations are seemingly endless.

Jitka’s death is a lesson. What will we choose – anger, fear or compassion, kindness? Will we let this tragedy destroy us or will we be stronger, more compassionate, kinder?

Jitka was a bright and shining light; we know what she would have chosen. I choose to be stronger, kinder, more compassionate. I choose to honor her life and not her death.

I believe that by gathering today to celebrate who Jitka was, we are taking a sorrowful and abhorrent event and turning it into compassionate energy – positive and powerful.

Personality secrets

Looking inwards, what's my TYPE?

What am I am secretly asking on this page, hoping you understand the ramblings of an Adventurer. Whats my Personality Type ? Sanguine, I am not. Melancholic/dreamer. Hmm, yes. In Part.

Volatile? Laid back? Sometimes Choleric?
Yeah plenty. Are there more? "Sixteen High Profile Personality Types," says Professors of People Group.

I'll tell you my secret. With each birthday I've trespassed into a little of someone I either admire or love to hate. Like when you walk out of a Theatre (hey be honest) you go a little like your favourite hero, or even villian. Role exchange, projections, delusions of grandeur. You name it, we all succumb. After Pretty Woman, dont ask! I'm telling you, my legs grew a wee bit. This wild mane of hair even tried to curl edgeways. After Forest Gump, I threw virtual stones at every shack I ever stowed away in secret yards. After The Piano Player I met a person in me, I never knew existed...but thats another page.

Shakira cross stitch

Shakira-cross-stitch by Tracie Koziura

"Shakira" cross stitch chart.

Here is another cross stitch chart design created this very day for your sewing pleasure! Available for all cross stitch lovers to download right here at The Artist In You Blog!

Known around the world for her amazing voice and dancing, Shakira is also an incredibly motivated and active philanthropist.

For me, Shakira is a true modern day inspiration and epitomises the expression "Be the change you want to see".

This cross stitch design has been created from a painting I did of Shakira back in February 2011 as a tribute to her to celebrate her birthday.

The downloadable ZIP file for this cross stitch chart contains a full black and white symbol chart, key and thread requirements along with a conversion chart from Anchor to DMC threads.

Letter to my Muse

Museby Rayla Noel

Today you will not awake and I am content to watch you; today you are a sweet tiger, soft soft fur outside.

Waiting to open those great amber eyes filled with rooms and dimensions only you can tell me about

I hear you breathe all over my floor;  must watch you content to watch me, wait for you to rise again.

Me, too busy to be still.  For you, work is also leaning, resting, mulling, the lull before...

Creativity finds a Vacant Plot - to Rent to Lease to Own. To Fill.

Thank you Sweet Tiger mine, sleeping still.
