A Rising Star ~ Marion A. Bockman
by Regina Sabiston
Marion A. Bockman is represented by Balla Ban Art Gallery in the heart of Dubland city. Born in Yorkton and raised in Stockholm, Saskatchewan, Marion learned to love a country she would later leave for other parts of the world. First she moved to Germany with her family, where she apprenticed as "Industriekauffrau." The next nineteen years were spent doing secretarial work.
After Marion married and had two sons, she made her final move to Dublin, Ireland in 1996. There she worked three years as a trainee textile artist in a silk painting studio, but it wasn't until much later that she found her passion. While off work due to health issues she learned that "Art" was very theraputic. It was then that she discovered a love for oil as a medium. Her love for painting "Flowers and Roses" in oil soon became her passion and she has been painting them ever since.
Marion says, "New ideas grow like a seed and in time, ripen and are ready to fill the canvas, sometimes in the wee hours of the morning. Painting is meditation."
This "Red Rose" was given to Marion by her mother as it was her favorite flower. Marion wanted it to live forever, to never wilt as roses always do so she decided to paint it with loving care to preserve it forever as a reminder of their special connection.
Since 2008, Marion has been taking art classes with "Pervaneh Mattews". In my opinion, Marion A. Bockman is "A Rising Star". In the meantime, she is truly enjoying her journey and looks forward to the future with an open heart and open mind. Good luck to you Marion. Thank you for being my friend. I look forward to your next paintings as I imagine so many others do too. Your paintings are beautiful and alive with color. Thank you for sharing your story and being such an inspiration to us all!
